St Luke’s Strategic Plan Summary
Vision for St. Luke’s Lutheran Church
St. Luke’s will continue to be a vibrant community in which the Holy Spirit can be seen to be at work transforming lives.
St. Luke’s will be known for who we are:
- People gathered around gifts of Word and Sacrament to worship the Triune God
- People called and sent, in Jesus’ name, to lives of loving care for our community, people everywhere (especially those in need), and for all of God’s Creation.
What the Strategic Plan Means
- To continue to be a vibrant community of faith and action, St. Luke’s must grow. We claim growth as a goal and prioritize actions to promote it.
- In every context, we will be attentive to raising up and equipping leaders, including special attention to youth.
- We are engaged in the process of calling a new lead pastor to both help our congregation grow and create a premier program for children, youth, and family ministry.
The strategic plan is a roadmap for connecting in Christ, grounded by our past, our Lutheran traditions, and our faith. The plan is all about ways to connect.
Connect in Christ
As a people gathered around gifts of Word and Sacrament to worship the Triune God, our connection to scripture and faith help define who we are.
We offer:
- Single Sunday service at 10 a.m. and a reassessment of this strategy through congregational feedback before deciding whether to continue it or return to two services
- Adult forums and Bible study opportunities
- Sunday school each week at 8:30 a.m.
- Confirmation and youth programs
- Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols
- Live streaming of our Sunday service (in process of implementation)
Connect with Each Other
We’re offering fun options to get together – Rally Day, our End of Summer picnic, our Festival of St. Luke’s, potlucks, outings such as canoeing, the Solar Walk, forest preserve clean-up and more! Keep watching the Messenger, website, bulletin, and social media for details!
Connect with our Community
We have a rich history of connect with our community and in global outreach activities. We will continue these efforts and seek to define new and impactful ways to connect with our immediate community.
Connect with Our Talents and Gifts
Growth and programs require resources—generous gifts of our time, talent, and finances. We have launched a new stewardship program to encourage all of us to help meet the financial needs of the congregation and the strategic plan.
We have also strengthened our connection to St. Luke’s by asking members to consider where they can give gifts of time and talent through activities, hosting opportunities, committees, cabinets, music programs, and much more.
We Need You!
St. Luke’s is our church family, and this work will take all of us to succeed. We encourage you to:
- Share your ideas, suggestions, feedback, and questions. Send them to Connect@stlukespr.org. Or contact Paul Rooney or another member of the implementation team.
- Join us for events and for worship and Sunday School/adult forum on Sundays. Invite your friends to join, too.
- Volunteer for an event, a cabinet, or a committee (or two or three).
