After taking a summer hiatus, Spirit Matters begins again in September. We meet every Third Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. Our gatherings will be hybrid as each feels comfortable in person or via Zoom.

On September 18, a picnic will held following the worship service.The menu will feature Tim McCurry’s renown pulled pork sandwiches, as well as hot dogs, potato chips and more. Plan to join us and bring your friends and neighbors. (the picnic will be held indoors if the weather doesn’t allow us to be outside.)
Now is the time to consider solar energy for your home. Wednesday September 28 at 7:00 p.m. in Henderson Hall. we hear from two experts how to take advantage of what the sun has to offer when powering our residences or churches. There are many options to consider when looking at solar. New incentives were added by Illinois in 2021 and more options were added with the passage of the federal Inflation Reduction Act. Dan Huntsha of Faith in Place and Tim Milburn, an industry consultant, will provide two segments with time for questions.
Walgreens will be at St. Luke’s on Sunday, September 18, 2022, to provide flu shots and other immunization from 9:00 a.m. to noon. These are available for anyone wishing to receive these immunizations.
Biblical Foundations for our Renewed Mission.
This fall is a bridge between Year C and the Gospel of Luke, and Year A, and the Gospel of Matthew.
On September 11 the forum will be held at 11:00 a.m. and feature Personal Reflections from Pastor Bouman, who was in New York City that day in 2001.
All other forums are at 8:30 a.m. Get your coffee, we will start about 8:40 a.m.
Rally Day is September 11. During worship, will bless all our young students with their backpacks. Sunday School classes resume. Adult Forum resumes. All Youth Groups, 6th-12th grade, are invited to a free swimming party at Hinkley Pool on Sunday, August 7th, from 7:30-9:30 p.m., sponsored by Park Ridge Parish Youth. We invite all youth leaders to come as well!
President Joe Biden visited the Lutheran World Federation (LWF)-operated Augusta Victoria Hospital (AVH) in Jerusalem July 15 as part of a two-day presidential visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories. Biden’s stop at the hospital is the first visit by a sitting U.S. president to the eastern part of the city.
Please come to greet Pastor Michael Busbey and his wife Hellen Rios Carrillo on Sunday August 28. Michael is now the ELCA Regional Representative for Central America and Mexico.
I haven’t dropped off the face of the earth, it’s just that I’m 110% consumed with music and worship here at LSM. What a fabulous experience this is! Many thanks to St. Luke’s for supporting my time here with the students. The church is in good hands musically for the coming years – these students are amazing!
