He Came for His Kids, but Stayed for Himself:
Tim McCurry’s Story
Dr. Timothy McCurry, or simply “Tim,” as most of us know him, first connected with St. Luke’s when Tim’s oldest child was ready to begin confirmation classes. Tim and his wife, Debbie, were searching for a church that offered more support for their children’s faith formation. It was a friend’s invitation and recommendation that first led them through the doors at Prospect and Cedar.
Tim and his family not only liked St. Luke’s confirmation program, but they found the music robust and appealing, the sermons inspirational, and the congregants exceedingly friendly. In short, they quickly found a church home at St. Luke’s.
One of the most significant ways Tim found fulfillment was through the Men’s Bible Study. To this day, he greatly enjoys the camaraderie and “everyday life-lessons” received from these biblically-grounded conversations. Additionally, those connections led to invitations to a local Cribbage Club, further expanding his social networks and support.
The companionship found in these groups helped him through some of his own transitions—raising children, supporting his patients, becoming an empty nester, and eventually retiring. This community became a source of stability as so many other parts of life changed.
What started as a way to support his kids’ faith journey turned into a personal network of friendship and spiritual growth that carries Tim through life’s different seasons.
The church is not just a place to pass on faith to the next generation; it’s a community that sustains us all. Through your generous support of St. Luke’s—in service, in participation, and in financial contributions—you are nurturing a community that provides stability, education, and unconditional love to each other.
