Holy Week Schedule
Holy Week 2023 begins with Palm Sunday on April 2nd and culminates with the Festival of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday, April 9th. Please, join us on this sacred journey for one or all of these services in remembrance of Christ’s Passion.
Palm Sunday, April 2: The service begins with waving of palms as Jesus journeys to Jerusalem, then moves to Reading of the Passion according to Matthew. Service of Holy Communion at 10:00 a.m.. Education Hour at 8:30 a.m. and Fellowship all morning.
The Three Days. These days are a single service that walk us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Maundy Thursday, April 6: Jesus washes his disciples feet and they share a meal as he prepares to meet his destiny at the cross. Services at 12:00 Noon – with soup luncheon following the service. And at 7:00 p.m. – with the celebration First Communion. Soup Supper begins at 6:00 p.m.
Good Friday, April 7: We gather in solemn devotion around the tree where Jesus gives his life for the sake of the world. An ecumenical service at 12:00 Noon features the Montag String Ensemble playing Haydn’s “Seven Last Words” with brief reflections from Park Ridge Ministerial Association ministers. At 7:00 p.m., we gather to hear the Passion According to St. John.
Easter Vigil, Saturday, April 8: We gather to light the new fire, hear the ancient stories, and are renewed in Holy Communion as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord. The service begins at 7:00 p.m.
The Resurrection of our Lord, Easter Day, April 9: Festival Service of Holy Communion at 10:00 a.m. with choir and chamber orchestra to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord.
