Leadership
The Rev Kyle R. Severson — Lead Pastor, begins his work at St. Luke’s on March 4, 2024. Since 2020, Pastor Kyle has served as Associate to the Bishop of the Metropolitan Chicago Synod. He was pastor of St. Philip Lutheran Church in Glenview, Illinois from 2015 to 2020, when he was asked to join the Bishop’s staff. He served as vicar (intern) at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit in Lincolnshire, Illinois from 2013 to 2014. Prior to entering seminary, he was Choral Music Educator/Director of Choirs for the Iroquois West Community School District in Gilman, Illinois.
He earned his bachelor’s in arts degree in Music Education from Augustana College (Rock Island, Illinois), where he currently serves on the President’s Advisory Council, and his master of divinity degree from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. He also holds a certificate in non-profit administration from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. Pastor Kyle lives in Des Plaines with his husband Clyde. Anne Krentz Organ Director of Music Ministries at St. Luke’s. Her responsibilities include worship planning, service playing, and the direction of the choral and instrumental music program which includes adult, youth, and children’s choirs, handbell choirs, and a variety of instrumental ensembles. Anne holds degrees from Valparaiso University, the University of Illinois, and Concordia University Chicago. Her compositions are published by Abingdon Press, Augsburg Fortress, Choristers Guild, Concordia Publishing House, Hope Publishing Company, and MorningStar Music. Anne serves as the Past-president of the Association of Lutheran Church. Musicians. Anne and her husband Jim are the parents of three grown sons; Andrew, Daniel, and Paul.
